Our Process

When you contact Glass Flooring Systems regarding one of our products, there is a specific process we undertake in order to ensure we understand and meet your exact requirements.

Design and Quote

First, we begin evaluating your needs and take the time to understand the details of your project. Whether you’re providing us with a full set of architectural drawings or a rough conceptual idea, we’ll work with you to determine which of our glass-flooring solutions best meets your needs.

We’ll explain all of the structural and architectural components that make up our products and review the specifications, options, testing data, product details, and finishes.

To further assist you in the development of your project, we also offer our product details and site-condition drawings in AutoCAD PDF and BIM formats.

Our application specialists work with you to ensure the resulting design meets your exacting specifications. It’s our job to make your job as easy as possible! Once we’ve identified the product(s) that best meets your needs, we’ll provide you with a written proposal for your review and approval.

Drafting

Once you’ve approved the proposal, we move your order into our in-house drafting process. During this crucial step, we produce a shop drawing that will verify all aspects of your project, including frame type, color, glass specifications, dimensions, and more. This is also an opportunity for our drafting team to incorporate any site-specific details you might have into the shop drawing.

Engineering

Although our products have already been pre-engineered to meet stringent safety and structural-load requirements, some projects require additional engineering due to job- or location-specific criteria. In these instances, we work with engineering experts who can provide the specific analysis that’s needed. Depending on your project, this could include glass-specific calculations, complete-system calculations, and/or stamped-and-sealed shop drawings.

Whether engineering for a single piece of glass or an entire system is required, our vast network of engineers throughout the country ensure your walkable skylight, deck, floor, stairs, or catwalk will be extremely safe, exceptionally strong, and structurally sound.

Production

Regardless of whether you’re buying a fully assembled unit ready for installation or a knocked-down assembly, your system will be built in exact accordance with your approved shop drawing’s specifications. This is when our craftsmen will bring your project to life at our production facility with exceptional care and attention to the finest detail.

We fully assemble every system that we ship out. If you’ve ordered a fully assembled unit, the system will arrive glazed and ready for installation. If it’s a knocked-down unit, we permanently stamp/mark every connection before disassembling the system. This allows for a simple, straightforward reassembly and installation on your project site. We then carefully package all materials so that your system arrives safely.

Customer Service

When you place your order, you’ll be appointed a project manager who will be your single point of contact throughout the design, production, shipping, and installation processes. Your project manager will be available every step of the way to answer questions and provide you with order updates.
